3D hologram a reality

I'm guessing most of us have watched Star Wars and we awe in the special effects that George Lucas brought us in his films. Most notably the holographic visual of princess leia requesting for help. *Picture below

We would think such technology would only be available when we managed to travel through space in Hyperspace mode, well it's not. The people at The ICT Graphics Lab at USC have managed to create this 3D holographic effect. The video below shows a few example their experiment. It's soooo cool. Two dimensional TV will be the thing of a past once they've succesfully squeeze this technology into our homes.

Family Dinner @ Eric Tsang's Steamboat

*Picture courtesy of 3meals.blogspot.com.. hehe thanks ya
Me and my family went out for a family dinner yesterday night (sunday 29th June). After thinking where to go for makan, we decided to try the steamboat restaurant opened by the famous HK star Eric Tsang and his fellow TVB stars. It was located in Hartamas Shopping Centre in Hartamas.

Me and my family, only four (4) of us ordered the dinner steamboat set ( for 2 -3 person) and according to the captain that it will be sufficient for the 4 of us. We proceeded for it, as most of us were very hungry already.

We had the dual soup steamboat, one side we had the Tom Yam soup and the other we have the normal soup. The place is quite big and there were quite a number of patrons. Other than having the steamboat, you may also order ala-carte dishes serve with rice.

This is what I think of the restaurant, despite its prime "location" in Hartamas (where supposedly the rich people stays) the service and decor of the restaurant is rather dissapointing. It was very sub-standard feel to it... like those Hong Kong cafes Mong Kok or kim gary cafes.

Second was its service, the restaurant wasn't packed to the max but the service was slow. I mean we ordered the steamboat dinner set, and it took more than 20 minutes to prepare. Most of the ingredients is already pre-made, like the soups, fishballs, vege, etc. I dont understand why should it take so long to prepare, I had to ask the captain about it before I could see any sort of service or serving done on my table.

And now the most crucial part of all, the food. Apparently most of the food are prepared by the restaurant, meaning there is no commercially factory made fish-ball, meat balls, etc. The soups is good too, I dont sense there is any MSG used for the soups. The food are fresh and the soup is tasty. Overall not too bad, but the portion isn't big. At the end of the meal, I dont feel hungry but I dont feel satisfied as somehow it still lacked something.

Finally the bill for that night came up to RM87 something for 4 people (inc. a pot of tea and those pesky taxes). Sorry guys, I didn't bring my camera so didn't manage to post any pics. But I borrowed pictures from 3meals.blogspot and NST Online at least you peeps can see what it looks like.

My office

Konnichiwa Minasan! (Trans: Hello Everyone!)

It's already 2 weeks into my new job at HSBC and I want to share with you my experience and feeling so far.

Well for starters, I'm back to a relatively medium sized cubicle (Genting Cubicle small). The increase in salary and benefits is definately very welcomed and I guess the management is another plus. An ang mo (white) company way of management is definately a big difference to the china man company (no offense ya).

My official office working hours starts from 8.45am to 5.45pm (mon-thurs) and on fridays I start at 8.45am and finishes at 4.45pm. Its a 5 days work a week and on fridays its casual wear. Although it seems like very nice working hours, but we dont really get to go home on time. Normally I will leave around 6 or 7 ish.. sometimes even 8 ish (Random one le - see work finish anot lu)

I take the LRT to work now. It saves me the hassle caught in the jam and looking for car park. I also save alot on money, because use less fuel and no car park fees.

One sad thing I found out is that this company got no Annual Dinner one wor.. So so sad.. I was wishing a huge company like HSBC will have a grand annual dinner. Hehehe.. the lucky draws should also be quite nice.. *wink wink. But to my surprise.. no annual dinner one. Sigh.

Well that's about my work so far.. I'm posting pictures of my cubicle. Enjoy!!
